Many people who would love to be volunteering, making a personal contribution to the care of the environment, find it difficult to fit volunteering into a busy schedule alongside their commitment and passion for their work.

The WILDCARE Corporate Volunteers Program offers you the opportunity to provide time and support for your employees to take time-out to make a difference in the world around them.  As a consequence they will surely be more able to perform to the high standards they aspire to when back at work.

What better way to show your commitment to supporting the values held by your employees and to building their capacity to work together productively?  At the same time they will be undertaking on-ground real-life projects to conserve Tasmania’s natural and cultural heritage - making a real difference.


WILDPARTNER Groups

Receive information about up-coming volunteer projects at the workplace for discussion at coffee break.  Employees can elect to participate in projects as a WILDPARTNER group, and with your authorisation take time off work to participate (not all projects occur during work hours, but many do).  Employees will be individually recorded as WILDCARE Inc volunteers, and are therefore eligible to respond independently to any volunteer project call-up that occurs out of office hours.

Discuss with WILDCARE Inc opportunities for special volunteer team projects for your employees or leadership team.  The project will provide an opportunity to build cohesiveness and team skills within your employees or corporate leadership at the same time as undertaking real life environmental projects.

WILDCARE Gift Fund

WILDCARE Inc and its WILDCARE Gift Fund were registered as an Environmental Organisation and Deductible Gift Recipient in 2005.  This means that any donation of more than $2 made to the Gift Fund is tax deductible. Donations can be made on line. » Donations

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is a simple way for employees to voluntarily choose to regularly donate to charities entitled to receive tax deductible donations.

The process allows donations to be received as a lump sum from the employer, rather than separate small donations from each individual participating employee.  Individual employees get a tax deduction without needing a receipt, and receive the benefits without waiting for their tax return.  As a business, you can also decide to add a corporate donation to match that of your employees, all in one easy process.

Sponsorship

WILDCARE Inc welcomes sponsorship both for general purposes and specific nature conservation, cultural heritage conservation and reserve management projects and programs.  General benefits are offered, with special benefits being available for specific project sponsorship.  Two Natural Partner - Sponsor projects are  currently available:

How to set up WORKPLACE GIVING to the WILDCARE GIFT FUND

This is a summary of information contained in the ATO Instruction on setting up a Workplace Giving program at http://www.ato.gov.au/content/downloads/n9185-06-04.pdf

Once you have decided in consultation with employees that you wish to support WILDCARE Inc through a Workplace Giving program you will need to:

  1. Contact WILDCARE Inc to arrange deposit processes (direct-deposit, credit card or cheque payment are available).  Email treasurer@wildcaretas.org.au
  2. Offer to your employees the opportunity to make donations to WILDCARE Inc from their salary through your Workplace Giving program.  (Participation is voluntary, as is the amount to be paid by each employee from each pay).
  3. Note: Personal details of participating employees are subject to privacy laws and cannot be released to WILDCARE Inc without the express, written permission of each employee.
  4. You may wish to set a minimum donation level for participation in the program – remembering that just $2 per pay amounts to a donation of $52 per year.
  5. Once you have calculated the total amount to be donated from the workplace, forward that amount to:
    WILDCARE IncWILDCARE GIFT FUND, C/- GPO Box 44 Hobart 7001 – on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis as appropriate.
  6. Donating through a Workplace Giving program does not reduce an employee’s gross salary.
  7. To calculate the amount to be withheld for each employee use the PAYG withholding tax tables and calculator on http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/content/33277.htm
  8. Using the relevant weekly, fortnightly or monthly tax table:
    • Calculate gross earnings
    • Calculate total amount of donations
    • Subtract the total amount of donations from the gross earnings
    • Use the amount calculated to find the earnings figure in column 1 of the relevant tax table and
    • Determine the amount to be withheld each pay using the appropriate column in the tax table (2-4)
    • Take the agreed amount from each employee’s payment and forward it to WILDCARE Inc as a lump sum.  You may request a receipt for the lump sum payment for your records.
  9. Keep records of the amount donated on behalf of each employee.
  10. At the end of the financial year, you should show the normal gross salary and total amount withheld from their salary for donations on each employee’s payment summary.
  11. In addition to this, you should advise each employee, in writing, of the total amount donated on their behalf to WILDCARE Inc for the year – in writing by letter or email or by including the amount in the employee’s payment summary.
