Wildcare Wilderness Coast clean-up and beachwash monitoring

Each year a beach cleanup and monitoring program has been conducted along the remote south coast beaches of Tasmania, in the stunning South West National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Facing the Southern Ocean the coast is battered by storms and wild weather, bringing with it a variety of rubbish and fishing equipment.

Each year volunteers are chosen and invited to travel to the remote beaches and collect and catelogue the rubbish. The records made help to identify the rubbish and allows work to be done to reduce particular types of rubbish.

This year WILDCARE takes the lead with the program, working with experienced volunteer leaders.
